It has been an unsettling year. So many unknowns. So many meetings. You probably are aware of the Archbishop's dilemma of a decline in priests to serve the deanery. As of this writing we are not sure how this will play out. Saint Michael's proposal was submitted as well as our desire to remain open and active. We will be informed of a decision sometime in November. As of now tings are on hold. No matter the outcome your museum will remain open. The Historical Society retains control of their funds due to the 501c3 number. We finally have the brick outhouse ready for viewing. This project has taken some time but now our complex is complete. This year many news articles were printed highlighting your museum. We were pleased with the articles and the exposure. Visitors are amazed at the volume and quality of our exhibits. Yes there is something to see in Tarnov , NE. We are trying to increase membership. We feel this will show the archbishop we are a serious organization fulfilling our mission of preserving the heritage of the area and the Historic complex in Tarnov. There is no other complex like Saint Michael in the near area still standing to show people how it was in the early 1900.. The Grotto was stabilized by Thrasher Co. Now we need to stabilize the rocks. Many are loose--some even gone. I think we have located some rocks for replacement, now need to figure out the process of replacing them. Those busy bees have a Christmas Tree decorated with Polish ornaments on display. Weather permitting the museum will be open on Nov. 5 for you to view. There may be many more trees to view but as of this writing nothing is confirmed. Once again the Grotto will be lit during the Christmas Season. We are still seeking volunteers to help with the museum. A good steward makes plans to pass on this vocation of preserving the past and that needs to happen now. There is a passport program for tourism that we would like to be a part of and will need more volunteers to help with extra open days. This is a rewarding ministry and hope someone will consider it. In closing we thank all who have shared their treasures for display and welcome more. Pray for St. Michael's to remain a functioning parish. |
